Air Canada Bargaining Committee finalizes bargaining preparations

January 18, 2011 at 3:00 PM
During the week of January 10-13th 2011, the Air Canada Bargaining Committee met in Toronto to finalize bargaining preparations.

The Bargaining Committee also took this opportunity to meet with District 301 elected officials and informally meet with members at Pearson Airport in Toronto to discuss upcoming bargaining concerns. President Leslie Dias explained some of the particulars regarding the Canada Labour code in relation to bargaining, the conciliation process and strike mandates.

Now that the key issues have been identified and prioritized, the next step will be to issue the Notice to Bargain to Air Canada.  Under the Canadian Labour Code, both parties must then meet within 20 days to begin bargaining.  Once bargaining dates have been finalized we will inform the membership.

For answers to many of your questions, please read Countdown to Bargaining, the Local 2002 Air Canada bargaining newsletter and Workplace Power  a booklet produced by the Local that explains the elements of collective bargaining. Copies of both are available in your union office and on line.

We will keep continue to keep you informed.
