Air Canada scope work arbitration and strike vote meetings

Air Canada scope work arbitration and strike vote meetings

May 27, 2015 at 4:07 PM
This week, important events that impact Air Canada customer service agents will be taking place. The scope work arbitration that began on April 30 continues on May 27 and 28. The following day, the union will be holding strike vote meetings across the country.

"This battle to protect our members’ work has been fought many times over the years,” says Local 2002 President Cheryl Robinson. "Our union has always prevailed.”

The union has a strong legal case and history on our side. Past arbitration awards confirm that work relating to special assistance passengers is our bargaining unit scope work.

Fighting this type of outsourcing is a high priority for Unifor. We would like to thank our membership for their strong support in our fight to retain good jobs for our members and future generations. In every workplace members are at risk with the cavalier approach that employers take towards job security.

"The protection of our scope work is essential,” says Unifor National Representative Leslie Dias. "Without job security, everything else becomes secondary.”

Your union representatives will be available at strike vote meetings in your location to provide updates to the arbitration, negotiations and to answer any questions you may have.

Please make sure to attend these very important meetings so that you can show your support for your rights, your contract, your union!

NOTE:  Times and dates may change, please double check with your district chairperson to confirm meeting.
