It’s time to mobilize!
It’s time to mobilize!
May 18, 2011 at 12:16 PM
Strike votes are continuing across the country with record attendance. It is clear that the membership of Local 2002 is rising up!
Over the past month, members are increasingly taking a stand:
On April 21 – Members from Local 2002 and activists from the CAW Aerospace Locals didn’t have to be asked twice when it came to supporting their union! Calls for justice and progress for Air Canada workers were heard loud and clear at the first Fair Deal Rally at Montreal airport.
On April 28 – Hundreds of labour activists from all unions in Alberta marched through Calgary airport with placards, flags and songs of solidarity in support of our struggle to protect our work and our pensions.
On May 5 – Attendees at the Air Canada shareholders meeting in Montreal, were given food for thought when a CAW Local 2002 information picket was set up. We had an opportunity to tell shareholders of your frustration at a company that gives its CEO a 75 per cent pay increase at your (and their) expense.
On May 12 – A detailed strike preparedness plan was rolled out to our Local's Air Canada leadership at the Local’s convention in Port Elgin.
In the days and weeks ahead – More actions, rallies and random acts of solidarity are being planned. Watch this space for more information and make every effort to be a part of this movement for fairness.
It’s time to build on this momentum and send the strongest message possible that "Enough is enough!”
We will not accept concessions and go backwards; it’s time to make history! It’s time for progress. It’s time to mobilize!
