On Wednesday, Unifor formally began talks with Air
Canada Flight Operations Crew Scheduling in Montreal. Discussions were brief as
the union and company exchanged non-monetary proposals and also reviewed
timetables for additional meeting dates.
"We are ready to negotiate in good faith and look
forward to obtaining a fair and equitable agreement for our members," said
Cheryl Robinson, President of Unifor local 2002. "Our bargaining committee has
been preparing for some time and is ready to negotiate a new agreement for these
highly skilled employees who contribute to the overall success of Air Canada."
Unifor local 2002 represents approximately fifty
members at Air Canada Flight Operations Crew Scheduling in Montreal, Quebec and Brampton, Ontario.
Members are responsible for numerous job functions such as monitoring daily and
future flight crew requirements, communicating with flight crews, liaising with
other operational offices concerning scheduling activity and notifying crew
members.
The last collective agreement expired in May, 2015.
Additional bargaining dates between Unifor and Air
Canada have been set for October.
