ATS Calgary ratifies first collective bargaining agreement

December 10, 2015 at 10:30 AM

On Thursday, Unifor local 2002 members at Airport Terminal Services (ATS) in Calgary ratified their first collective bargaining agreement by 85 per cent. These members work as cargo agents and ground service mechanics (GSE) at Calgary International Airport and are now proud members of Canada’s largest private sector union – Unifor.

The one year agreement is effective from August 1, 2015 to July 31, 2016. Some of the improvements that these members will benefit from in this first agreement are: union recognition, wage increases, increase in sick days, de-ice premium and return to work and domestic violence language.

"This first agreement for ATS Calgary secures good jobs for these hard working members," said Cheryl Robinson, Unifor Local 2002 President. "Wage increases combined with improved benefits make this a good deal and I am proud of our entire bargaining committee for all of their efforts."

We would like to thank the Bargaining Committee for their hard work, dedication, knowledge and insight to work through the issues as their first agreement was formed.

Unifor is Canada’s largest union in the private sector, representing more than 315,000 workers. It was formed Labour Day weekend 2013 when the Canadian Auto Workers and the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers unions merged.
