NorTerra has hired Mercer Health and Benefits to assist them in
managing/administrating the Sunlife Benefit Plan. The Sunlife plan
provides extended insurance coverage to CAW members at Air NorTerra.
Mercer has recommended changes to the existing Sunlife benefit insurance
plan. The CAW met with Mercer and Air NorTerra management on June 15 to
discuss their proposed changes. In attendance for the CAW were Joanne
Reid-Dixon (Executive Vice-President), Sherry Hodgson (District
Chairperson), Aida Kirameddine (Vice-Chairperson) and Ron DiPasquale
(Executive Assistant – West).
The CAW will be taking some time to study the
Company’s proposals at which time they will be shared with the membership.
Article 19.01 of the collective agreement states that “benefits provided
under the terms of the [insurance] Plans will not be amended without the
consent of the Union.” Members at Air NorTerra can rest assured the CAW
will make a decision on benefits that is in their best long term interest.
