American Eagle fights for first collective agreement

February 26, 2010 at 3:00 PM

Although bargaining began on September 16, 2009, approximately 65 members of American Eagle at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport still do not have a first collective agreement.

With the exception of wages, the majority of the issues have been agreed to. In December of 2009, the CAW filed with the Minister of Labour requesting a Conciliator be appointed to help assist in finalizing this crucial first agreement.

Meetings with the Company were held on January 26 and 27 in Toronto but even with the assistance of the appointed conciliator, no progress was made on the outstanding issue.

The Union is currently meeting to determine which direction to proceed. Your feedback is important to us and we will be contacting you shortly in order to determine the next steps.
