Envoy Air Ratification/Strike Vote Meeting

Envoy Air Ratification/Strike Vote Meeting

December 12, 2017 at 5:45 PM

Over the past seven months, your Envoy Bargaining Committee has met with the Company on several occasions. The bargaining process has been proceeding at a slow-going pace, however, the Committee had remained cautiously optimistic throughout the negotiations with hopes that progress would be made. Envoy members have been working without a collective agreement since March 18, 2017.

On Monday, December 11, 2017, the Company presented the Committee with the “company’s last offer,” effectively, advising their aversion to continue important negotiations on issues that are vital to the membership. The conciliation/mediation period will end on December 13, and this will place us in a legal strike position once the union provides the employer with 72 hours notice.

It is important to note; the Bargaining Committee does not support the “company’s last offer”, however the committee has determined that it is in the memberships best interest to decide if they wish to accept the offer or not. The “company’s last offer“will be provided to members at the ratification meetings.

What you need to know – Ratification/Strike Vote Meeting:

The union has scheduled ratification meetings for Thursday, December 14 ,2017 (see the below chart for location and times). It is strongly advised that all Unifor Local 2002, District 341 members attend these important meetings to be informed of what the company is prepared to offer, and provide the members the choice to either accept or reject the “company’s last offer”.

To our Envoy members, it is important to understand, that acceptance of the “company’s last offer” will form the agreement for the next three years, and a rejection of the “company’s last offer” will signify that you have voted to turn down the last offer and are willing to strike if required. If there is a NO vote, the union can file a 72-hour strike notice to the Company.

American Airlines is making Record profits:

American Airlines is making record profits ($692 million net profits in the third quarter of 2017) and company executives are being richly rewarded and the needs of our membership are not being addressed.
  • Envoy Air Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of American Airlines Group and is the largest Regional Carrier for American Airlines. Envoy operates more than 150 aircraft and nearly 900 daily flights to more than 150 destinations. The company has more than 14,000 employees and provides regional flight service to American Airlines under the American Eagle brand and livery and ground handling services for many American flights.

The Bargaining Committee would like to thank our members for their patience throughout this trying process. We look forward to seeing the members at the ratification/strike vote meeting on December 14,2017.

In solidarity,
