Tentative agreement reached with First Air

Tentative agreement reached with First Air

May 2, 2014 at 11:46 PM
After two weeks of negotiations, Unifor Local 2002 is pleased to announce that the bargaining committee has reached a tentative agreement with First Air.

Bargaining was challenging as First Air continues to struggle financially and the potential merger with Canadian North provided the backdrop; there had to be balance between creating security for our members and providing stability for the company in order to move forward through the challenges ahead.

The committee is currently planning a ratification tour in the coming weeks in order to present the highlights of the tentative agreement, language changes and modifications to the collective agreement to the membership.

It is important for members to stay connected and informed. Your bargaining committee will soon be issuing a bulletin detailing ratification meeting dates and times. Please subscribe to receive updates and e-news conveniently, on our Local’s website: unifor2002.org/subscribe.aspx

"The membership of First Air is to be commended for the unwavering strength and solidarity demonstrated during this challenging round of bargaining,” said President Jamie Ross. "Their support allowed the bargaining committee to focus on achieving the best possible collective agreement for their members.”

The bargaining committee wishes to thank the entire membership at First Air who work as customer service agents and ticket agents in airports and call centres, and cargo and station agents in the Western and Eastern Artic, Ottawa, Winnipeg and Edmonton.

In solidarity,

Your First Air Bargaining committee:
