Flair Air, District 199: Unifor bargaining dates set

Flair Air, District 199: Unifor bargaining dates set

July 7, 2017 at 5:45 PM

Since their election, your Unifor 2002 Bargaining Committee has been hard at work reviewing the surveys completed by the membership. These surveys are being used to create a list of key issues you would like addressed at the bargaining table.

The committee met with Ashley Watkins, Assistant to the Local President, and Andrea MacBride, National Representative, to begin writing the proposals Unifor will bring to the bargaining table. Once both the union and the employer agree, these proposals will become the foundation for your first collective agreement.

Earlier this week, the union and company scheduled September 13, 14 and 15 to meet for the first time in Kelowna B.C. where we will present our proposals and begin negotiations.

The bargaining process
The union and the company discuss each proposal, both monetary and non-monetary, in depth and once agreed to by both the union and the company, they become the basis for your tentative agreement.

The bargaining committee presents the tentative collective agreement to the membership at a ratification meeting(s). Nothing we negotiate will be finalized until you — the membership — have the chance to hear and review the details of the agreement. Then you will vote on the agreement. Unifor does not have a vote; it is only you, the pilots, who will vote on your collective agreement.

We will continue to keep you informed with any further developments as we work through the collective bargaining process. Thank you for your support as we work to bargain a fair and respectful deal for you.
