Flair Air: call for bargaining committee representatives

Flair Air: call for bargaining committee representatives

February 8, 2017 at 5:00 PM

We have obtained certification from the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB). Unifor's democratic principles allow for you to elect peers to represent your voice in the bargaining process with the employer, Flair Air. Now that we have obtained certification, we are in a legal position to enter into negotiations with Flair Air for the purpose of reaching a collective agreement.

We are calling for volunteers to work with the Unifor National Staff Representative Andrea MacBride and Unifor 2002 Assistant to the President Ashley Watkins. Your bargaining unit will elect two (2) members to your new bargaining committee.

The bargaining process

The bargaining committee will prepare surveys for distribution to the membership and host meetings where we will learn about the priorities of the members at the bargaining table.

The bargaining committee will put together bargaining proposals based on membership feedback. The Unifor research department will examine industry standards to assist the bargaining committee in developing these proposals. Unifor will serve notice to the employer that we are prepared to enter into negotiations and dates will be scheduled to exchange proposals.

Once the employer and union reach a tentative agreement, the bargaining committee will make a recommendation to the membership for ratification. A meeting is scheduled where the bargaining committee will explain the details of the tentative agreement and a vote is conducted on acceptance of the agreement.

If you are interested in submitting your name for Bargaining Committee Representative please send an email to [email protected] with your name and phone number no later than Thursday, February 16, 1200 hrs. MST.
