The following is intended to provide the members of District 333 with an update of work completed by the Bargaining Committee concerning outstanding Grievances and JEC (Job Evaluation Committee) Appeals.

On May 2, 2008 the CIRB (Canada Industrial Relations Board) issued an interim certificate to the CAW. As of May, 2008 the CAW has taken carriage out of all outstanding grievances, JEC Appeals as well as Job Description Grievances filed by PSAC. Some of these grievances dated back to the year 2000. To date, the Bargaining Committee has dealt with approximately Two Hundred and Thirty-Five (235) grievances and appeals. The framework of these grievances dealt with such issues as:

  • Suspensions

  • Termination

  • Policy Grievances & Individual Grievances

  • 42 JEC Appeals

  • 18 Job Descriptions

For the most part, the above grievances were dealt with by utilizing the expedited mediation / arbitration process outlined in Appendix "K" of the collective agreement coupled with the Bargaining Committees' involvement during the Business Transformation Process and the pressures they put on the company while working through that process. All matters pending arbitration have now been dealt with.
