The Unifor-GTAA District 333 collective bargaining agreement expires July 31, 2016 but preparations for negotiations are already under way.
On February 19, 2016, your bargaining committee met at Unifor Local 2002 headquarters in Toronto in order to strategize for upcoming negotiations. The newly elected bargaining committee brings a wealth of knowledge and new energy to the table. The existing and new committee together creates a fresh and dynamic knowledge-base essential for a successful round of talks. There is a great sense of determination and professionalism amongst the group and a spirit of unity.
In his opening remarks, district chairperson Antonios Kourteridis, commented on the challenges ahead.
"As always, collective bargaining comes with challenges. However, when the membership and leadership are mobilized as one, the solidarity within the union becomes an unbreakable power."
Our collective agreement defines the rules under which we work every day. As such, we want you to be part of this important process and have your voice heard. This will be achieved in two steps: membership surveys and proposal meetings. Your participation in both is important to successful contract negotiations. Your feedback will give the committee a better understanding of your bargaining priories and what you hope to see reflected in a new contract.
