GTAA announces restructuring

April 15, 2014 at 8:07 PM
This past month, the GTAA advised the union that the "status quo" in 3 areas is no longer viable and requires re-organization: airfield maintenance facility, building maintenance and customer and terminal services.

Discussions have taken place within the operating "buckets” of the respective departments and your District 333 bargaining committee representatives. In addition, a meeting concerning all involved parties (including local and national union representation) was held on April 11, 2014.

The employer is further ahead in the restructuring of certain groups and was therefore able to present more detailed plans for consideration, other plans are still in the initial stages.

The union will continue to be involved in these discussions to ensure that the collective bargaining agreement is followed as well as using past practice and incumbent job duties where applicable. Our primary concern is to ensure that our members remain employed; the company has assured us that this is the case at the current time.

The bargaining committee will continue to keep you informed as re-organizational plans are firmed up between the employer and the union.

In solidarity,

Your GTAA Bargaining Committee:
