GTAA bargaining is progressing

April 30, 2013 at 1:00 PM

On April 29, 2013 the GTAA Bargaining Committee met with the employer to continue negotiations.

This is the first time both parties have met since exchanging language proposals at the end of March. During this period of time the bargaining committee have reviewed the employer’s proposal in detail in preparation for the upcoming negotiations.

During the meeting several components were discussed:

  • Both sides asked for clarification on specific items in their respective proposals

  • Identified common ground in both proposals

  • Established timelines to exchange monetary proposals

  • Established subcommittees to handle more complex areas of concern

The bargaining committee will be scrutinizing key proposals in preparation for the next scheduled meeting on May 9, 2013. There are eight further dates scheduled to ensure timelines are met.

Negotiations are a sensitive time for the membership and rumours can abound. Should you have any questions or concerns please contact a bargaining committee member for up to date information; in short, "Go to the source!"
