On May 9 and 14, 2013 the GTAA Bargaining Committee
met with the Employer to continue negotiations. This included one break-out
session of a union sub-committee. The sub-committee – a smaller group of union
and management representatives – is working on developing language in a
particular area so that they can bring back to the main bargaining table for
full discussion.
During this round of talks, the following took
place::
-
Some articles from both proposals were agreed
to in principle
-
Both the union and company continued to clarify
and refine their proposals which led ( in some instances) to counter
proposals
-
There were exchanges of additional information
including the presentation of situational examples
-
Both sides have "take-aways" (i.e. proposals)
for redraft of some articles from their original content
-
Draft rules of engagement for future
sub-committees were exchanged
-
Both parties continued to refine the timelines
for the exchange of monetary proposals
The GTAA Bargaining Committee is scheduled to meet
amongst ourselves again on the morning of May 21, 2013 to regroup and review our
proposals. Both parties – the bargaining committee and company – will reconvene
later in the day to hear a progress report of the last sub-committee and
continue negotiations through to May 23, 2013.
Negotiations and meetings with the Employer will
now go into longer sessions as the parties have presented a good portion of
their proposals.
