Prior to the start of bargaining, an initial presentation by Jazz management for the CAW occurred in Toronto on Wednesday March 29, 2006. In attendance for the CAW were the three Jazz Bargaining Committees, Hemi Metic – Assistant to the National President, Anne Davidson – Area Director for Alberta & BC, and Jim Stanford – CAW Economist.
The Company’s presentation centered on the financial state of the airline, the initial public offering (IPO) of Jazz trust units, and the capacity purchase agreement with Air Canada. “The company’s presentation was useful and detailed. It gave us an understanding of Jazz and the airline industry from the employer’s perspective”, stated Hemi Mitic. “Jim Stanford will be taking the information away for study, and once that’s complete the CAW will be presenting its own perspective to the company at our April meeting.”
The first session of bargaining is scheduled for April 11 – 13 in Toronto.
