The Bargaining Committee is
pleased to announce that the current round of negotiations – in all capacities –
is now concluded. The final interpretations and supplementary awards have been
determined and released.
The wage increases remain on schedule as per the
company with an implementation date of October 10, 2013, followed by a final
retroactive payout on October 25, 2013.
Rules governing vacation relief
lines have been established which include the following:
Relief lines
shall be created for bidding by all permanent full time employees. For each
permanent relief line created there will be a "full time relief status” created
and offered to the part time pool in seniority order within the base, giving
that person 86.67 hours per pay cycle. Relief lines created will include all
known hours of work for the purposes of the winter/summer bid. These lines will
be tweaked on a monthly basis following the rules of the agreement, in order to
maintain the average hours needed to justify a full time assignment.
Part time employees who accept the relief status will be designated as RS status
and if there is a staff reduction will revert back to their permanent Part time
positions prior to any layoffs at the base.
Exciting news for part time
employees as the "no harm, no foul” policy amendment to 50/50 availability came
into effect October 1, 2013, meaning once the shift has been picked up all
"no’s” recorded for that call out will be removed. For example, if a five hour
shift being called out to part time and the first four people decline to come
in, not available (i.e., "N/A”) is marked by their name. If the fifth person
accepts the call out then the previous four people have the "N/A” removed.
The company has outlined their requirements in order for cabin employees to
be considered qualified in tow crew and who wish to exercise their bumping
rights under the collective agreement. Anyone wanting to explore the possibility
to work in tow crew interested in exercising this option should contact their
bargaining committee representative to fully understand the penalties.
