Senior Lead Agents and Employee Coaching - Jazz CSA & ACS

Senior Lead Agents and Employee Coaching - Jazz CSA & ACS

April 6, 2006 at 12:00 AM

In the next several days Jazz management will be issuing a bulletin to Customer Service Agents (CSA), Aircraft Services (ACS) employees and Senior Lead Agents entitled “Coaching for Employee Performance”. It will contain more clear guidelines for Senior Lead Agents as they discharge their responsibilities in leading and directing the work of their peers.

As you are aware, at many Jazz locations management no longer performs a number of operational and administrative duties and those tasks are now done by Senior Lead Agents. Senior Leads have a responsibility to ensure the operation runs smoothly and provide a positive environment in which the CSA and ACS groups do their work. Even though they are to lead and direct the work of their peers they are not to be directly involved with discipline.

At times Senior Lead Agents may have to speak to a CAW member about an aspect of their work with a view to helping them improve performance. The bulletin “Coaching for Employee Performance” will give clearer guidelines to Senor Leads in this area of their duties.

When Senior Lead Agents coach others it should be done informally: it must be positive, respectful, and focused on providing the supports a CSA or ACS employee needs to be successful in their function. If a problem persists, Senior Lead Agents should ask the union for assistance knowing they will receive help to correct all bona fide performance issues. By involving CAW officers problems can be handled inside the bargaining unit without formally involving management. The CAW believes when problems are solved among union members it is good for everyone. It is a benefit to our members because discipline is avoided.

Your Bargaining Committee has reviewed the company’s bulletin during discussions with management. When it is posted please read it carefully. If you have questions or comments please contact your Bargaining Committee Representative.
