The CAW and Jazz have developed the CAW Jazz
Benefits Representative position as a joint venture in recognition of the
uncertainty our members can have when entering the medical disability stream.
The Benefits Representatives are CAW members like yourself. They are available
as a resource that you can access if you have any questions or concerns. Their
duties and responsibilities will be as follows:
-
Participate in the joint and cooperative
development of the Disability Management agreements.
-
Represent the interests of sick or disabled
workers in a confidential manner.
-
Help to establish the trust of the sick or
disabled workers which is essential to secure their participation in Disability
Management programs.
-
Maintain regular contact and follow up with sick
or disabled workers.
-
If requested, provide information and support in
case of a dispute.
-
Assist in coordinating the rehabilitation and
help identify jobs suitable to the worker’s condition and capabilities on return
to work.
-
Educate the membership on benefits.
