Important information for all Jazz Technical Services members

September 11, 2015 at 4:15 PM
Your Jazz Technical Services bargaining committee met with the employer this week for two days in Toronto. The committee presented the employer with the proposals that had been gathered through surveys and at our bargaining proposal meetings in July.

The company explained to the committee, in detail, the affects the new capacity purchase agreement will have on the operation over the next 10 years, and their vision for growth and stability.  The potential creation of a new, lower-cost carrier operating the classic fleet is a major issue for both the union and the employer, and a lot to consider.

In-depth discussion on important issues for our members took place, in particular — but not limited to — the following:
  • including the new carrier work in our scope provisions
  • line maintenance
  • heavy maintenance
  • shops
  • mobility rights
  • wage scales
  • voluntary separation packages
  • term of the agreement.

The bargaining committee will meet again with the employer next week in Vancouver to continue discussions.

Your bargaining committee feels optimistic that with further discussion, we will reach an agreement that will meet our membership’s needs and offer stability within the industry. Our solidarity as we continue through this process will determine our success.

Unifor is committed to keep you informed of events as they unfold. If you have any questions, please contact your bargaining committee representative.

In solidarity,
