A group of determined women at Jazz have created a team that will walk to
raise funds in order to fight poverty and defend the dignity of women in
developing countries. The team who have called themselves Jazz Moves are
stepping up to the plate to help women who walk miles for clean water and have
limited or no access to education or job training.
"These amenities are readily available to girls and women in Canada,” says
Jazz women’s advocate and women’s committee member, Donna Buchan. "Our goal is
to raise funds to help women less fortunate.”
Jazz Moves will be taking 8000 steps per person per day for 8 days from March
27 to April 3. Team members plan to raise 100.00 a person and fundraising will
be ongoing from now until June 30, 2013.
There is still time to take part in this exciting event. You can join or
sponsor the Jazz Moves team or create your own team. Whatever you do, remember
to send in pictures and stories about where your steps take you.
