As previously communicated, Jervis B. Webb Company (Webb Airport Services) has a contract with the GTAA that expires on April 30, 2012.
In order to be in compliance with the Canada Labour Code, Section 212 - Notice of Group Termination; and, as a result of Webb not knowing if they have or have not secured the GTAA contract, the company must serve notification to the membership sixteen weeks prior to the effective date of lay-off.
Subsequently, the employer will be issuing lay-off notices to all CAW members at Webb Airport Services today.
The union recognizes that this a stressful time for members at Webb. In order to alleviate the uncertainty, it is imperative that all available information be forthcoming.
An announcement from Jervis B. Webb Company regarding the contract is expected imminently. The Union commits to prompt communication of all pertinent information as it unfolds.
