Sisters and Brothers
Nearly six months have passed since being elected as President of Unifor Local 2002. I am honored to have assumed this important role, I will care for this responsibility with respect and dedication. I’m proud to be representing one of largest locals in Unifor representing approximately 12,000 members from coast to coast to coast. I am also extremely proud to be the first Aboriginal Woman elected into this position at our Local.
Thank you to all the members who ran in the recent Unifor 2002 District elections. I would like to congratulate the successful candidates and I look forward to working with you and serving our membership together. Thank you to the District Elections Committees, the Local Election Committee, Executive Board Liaison, regional Vice Presidents and our Administration Department for their hard work and dedication during the election campaign.
We have accomplished much in the last few months, and there is still more work to do. I want to acknowledge the dedication and commitment of our members, union representatives and support staff. We work daily to build the strongest and most effective union to bargain on behalf of our members, working with our members to improve their rights in the workplace, and extending the benefits of unions to non-unionized workers and other interested Canadians.
As we move forward, I will be directed by the Unifor Constitution, the by-laws, Executive Board and our membership. I ask that all Unifor Local 2002 elected representatives and Unifor Local 2002 members work together and be at the forefront of this goal to promote the interests of all our members.
Throughout my term of office as President of Unifor Local 2002, I commit to working and making decisions in the best interest of our members. I will work diligently in defending the rights of our members, our Local and our Union. With our strength together, we will accomplish great things.
Thank you and in Solidarity,
President Unifor Local 2002
