On behalf of the Executive Board, I am pleased to announce that Josée Garand has been selected as the Unifor 2002 Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Coordinator.

The Employee Assistant Program (EAP) is funded by Air Canada through the Employment Insurance Rebate Program. The EAP program will provide professional care for employees seeking assistance with challenges they may be facing. The program will work with employees through a process of assessment, referral and aftercare.

The EAP Program is strictly confidential, is voluntary and encourages individuals to seek help either directly through the EAP Provider, or the Employee Assistance Coordinator, a Union Representative, a Supervisor or a colleague.

The role of EAP Coordinator will include; monitoring and working with the EAP provider; building links with EAP Coordinators in other unions; coordinating and assisting with the delivery of training programs for union representatives, members.

We welcome Josée to the position and are confident that she will do an exemplary job.

Thanks are also extended to the many other qualified candidates who applied for the position and we are hoping that some of them will be available to work with the union on future projects.

In solidarity,

Euila Leonard
President, Unifor 2002
