Welcome to Getting to Know Your Local, a Unifor Local 2002 newsletter dedicated to bringing you information about our Local and our members. For the month of July, we are featuring the following three units:

  • Swissport (Vancouver)

  • Pascan Aviation

Swissport (Vancouver) District 108

Our members provide passenger ground handling services at the Vancouver International Airport, providing Customer Service to over 30 airlines. Members process passengers at check-in, attend to gate related duties, operate the loading of bridges and aircraft doors. Members assist with special needs passengers, operate surreys throughout the airport terminal, and perform the duties of ticketing agent. Swissport Canada Inc. is a global leader of ground services and air cargo handling for the aviation industry. The company is active at 315 airports in 50 countries across all five continents. On March 28, 2018, members ratified a three-year collective agreement. Since the acquisitions of Handlex and Servisair, Local 2002 has been serving the members of Swissport for over 25 years.

Pascan Aviation (Montreal) District 430

Our members at Pascan Aviation are pilots from Quebec’s largest independent airline operating from Saint Hubert, Longueil, Quebec, Canada. Pascan Aviation was founded in 1999 and operates scheduled services within Quebec, Newfoundland and Labrador as well as aircraft charter services. We represent approximately 70 pilots at Pascan Aviation and the members joined Unifor Local 2002 in 2014.

Flair Airlines (Kelowna) District 199

Our members are pilots working at Flair Airlines. Dubbed as an Ultra-Low-Cost Carrier, Flair Airlines headquarters is based at Kelowna International Airport and operates a fleet of Boeing 737-400 aircraft. Flair operates scheduled passenger services across Canada, as well as both chartered passenger and cargo services in Canada, the United States, and beyond. Members joined Unifor Local 2002 in 2017 and ratified their first three- year collective agreement on July 5, 2018. Local 2002 represents 55 pilots at Flair Airlines based out of Kelowna, Abbotsford, Edmonton, Calgary, and Hamilton.
