It is with heavy hearts that we share with you the passing of Delia Gaskill, Unifor Local 2002 Communications Co-Ordinator.

Sister Gaskill was a long-standing union activist who cared deeply for the union and the work we do. In the ‘90s, she was an Air Canada District 301 Vice-Chairperson at Toronto Pearson Airport where she started her path to the communications department, writing a clever and thought-provoking district newsletter. She could be found front and centre at events, conferences and marches; and later, behind a camera at those same events.

Delia shared her passion and enthusiasm in many ways: her work on the Rose Vine, the former Women’s Committee newsletter; the kind words and sage advice she spread so beautifully to those around her; planning special events for her co-workers. Delia was a spirited and thoughtful individual who had a great sense of humour, friendly smile and always had something constructive to say regardless of the topic.

Delia touched the hearts of everyone who met her. She was a good friend and colleague and will be missed terribly.

Delia Frances Gaskill died peacefully in the presence of her family, on Monday May 1st, 2017 at her home in Georgetown, Ontario.

Loving mother of Geordon, Rory, Haydn and Tanner. Loving sister of Susan, Lynda and Georgina. Loving daughter of Elizabeth Gaskill and the late George Gaskill. Delia was a great aunt and friend to many.

Friends will be received at the J.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Rd., north of Maple Ave., Georgetown on Sunday from 2-4 p.m.

Memorial service will be held at St. Alban's Anglican Church (537 Main Street, Glen Williams) on Monday May 8th at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cancer Assistance Services of Halton Hills or St. Alban's Anglican Church would be appreciated by the family.
