Join with Unifor to show your PRIDE and solidarity at Toronto’s pride events.
Unifor lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) activists and allies will be hitting the streets this year for Toronto’s Pride.
Over the last few weeks, in the wake of the tragic mass shooting in Orlando, the LGBTQ communities, and all of us as trade unionists have been reminded of the work that still needs to be done to create an inclusive loving society.
This year's pride parade is an important moment to come together as a union to extend our solidarity and recommit to ending homophobia and transphobia.
There are a lot of events happening, but I want to encourage you to join Unifor LGBTQ members and allies at the following three events on July 1, 2 & 3:
The Trans Pride March is one of the largest annual events of the Trans community in Canada. All Trans identified people, their friends, and allies are welcome. The march goes along Bloor and Carlton streets ending at Allen Gardens.
This year the march is led by members of the Black Lives Matter Toronto Coalition. Rain or shine, this is woman and woman-identified march will go down Yonge Street to Carlton Street, and into Allan Gardens, concluding with a rally featuring queer local artists, performers, poets, and activists.
Unifor is J44, our contingent is behind the NDP and before PSAC
Arrive early at 1 p.m. on Bloor Street at Ted Rogers Way to be in the parade
After 35-years Toronto’s Parade has grown to be one of the world’s largest. This year, Unifor’s contingent will march alongside the Ontario Federation of Labour. Come early to get your pride t-shirt, whistle and solidarity sign. Our limited quantities will go fast!
Let’s celebrate and march together on Toronto’s streets to send a strong Unifor message against hate. Look out for the Unifor flags and messages of solidarity at each event.
