Morningstar D399 bargaining opens

Morningstar D399 bargaining opens

January 9, 2015 at 3:26 PM

Three productive days of bargaining commenced for the pilots of Morningstar Air Express on Monday, January 5, 2015.

The bargaining committee, consisting of Jim Bergsma (chairperson), Chad Claringbold, Robert Douglas, Local 2002 Executive Assistant Ashley Watkins and Unifor Director of Transportation Ron Smith presented the union’s monetary and non-monetary proposals to the employer. Former district chairperson Mark Lussier was also in attendance to offer his contractual and bargaining knowledge.

In preparation for bargaining, the committee met in October and again in December to review the language in the current collective agreement and establish the proposals that would be delivered to the company. Their final mandate was directed by the membership through surveys and a well-attended proposal meeting on October 4, 2014.

Bargaining reconvenes on January 19 and 20, 2015.

The union will continue to keep members updated on developments as they unfold. However, in order to protect the integrity of negotiations, the committee cannot discuss specific details until a tentative agreement is reached.
