Unifor Local 2002 is proud to welcome over 55 new members from Nasittuq who work in the northern-most permanently inhabited place in the world.

Members at Nasittuq supply a complete range of support services to the Department of National Defence including facilities maintenance, airfield operations, food services and transport, logistical and administrative support at CFS Alert, a military station located in Nunavut, approximately 817 km from the North Pole.

Over eighty per cent of the membership recently voted to ratify their first collective agreement by seventy-five per cent. Bargaining committee members Brian Maherle and Unifor National Representative Joel Fournier negotiated a progressive first agreement that provides significant improvements for the membership.

"Nasittuq members are highly skilled workers located in an extremely isolated work environment," says Local 2002 President Cheryl Robinson. "Local 2002 is a geographically diverse local with lots of experience and I’m confident this will be a successful and mutually rewarding partnership."
