Ornge Bargaining Update

Ornge Bargaining Update

December 9, 2016 at 5:00 PM

On November 15, 2016, the union and company resumed negotiations and agreed to enter into an agreement with Arbitrator Tom Hodges.

As per this agreement, the parties – Unifor, Ornge and the Arbitrator – met earlier this week in hopes of agreeing to some of the remaining unresolved bargaining items. Some of the more contentious issues are still unresolved; wage increases, rest period (Article 26) and scheduling.

Discussions between the parties have continued (recently as today) where Mr. Hodges notified the Union and Company that he requires additional dates with everyone in January. He has indicated these meetings are required in order to clarify each of the parties' positions on the remaining items. We have yet to firm up the meeting dates at this time.

Following the January meetings, the parties will exchange written submissions and both parties will have the right to reply. Once this process has been completed, Arbitrator Hodges will provide a written decision which will be final and binding.

As we continue to work through the process we will continue to keep you informed. Please ensure that you have subscribed to Unifor 2002's e-news service.

Your patience is very much appreciated.
