Unifor and Ornge reach tentative agreement on outstanding MOS

Unifor and Ornge reach tentative agreement on outstanding MOS

November 15, 2018 at 6:00 PM

The Bargaining Committee for Ornge District 344, together with Unifor Local 2002 and National representatives are pleased to announce that a Memorandum of Settlement (MOS) has been reached between the parties. This agreement will be presented to the Ornge membership for ratification on December 5, 2018.

The tentative agreement, which was reached yesterday, follows a one-year study period, and is part of the Arbitration Award issued on October 31, 2017 by the Arbitrator. Following the release of the 2017 Award, your Bargaining Committee heard loud and clear; members were not satisfied with the results of the ruling.

During the last several months, the Union and the Company have been working diligently towards finding a resolution that would provide members with significant gains relating to the fourth year of the current collective bargaining agreement. Unifor used the approach that we would 'find and work towards a resolution ourselves' versus 'taking a chance and arguing the matter again in arbitration.' Simply put, we wanted to be in control of our own fate and find resolutions that would be in the best interest of our members.
