In a meeting held on May 14, Unifor members voted unanimously in favour of the tentative agreement negotiated by the union’s Bargaining Committee, securing their first collective agreement in the process.

"The members of the Bargaining Committee did an excellent job throughout this lengthy process, which lasted over 20 months and required 14 bargaining and conciliation sessions before finally arriving at this first labour agreement," commented Marcel Rondeau, Unifor national representative.

Considering the employer’s current situation, the committee is proud to have succeeded in obtaining a three-year collective agreement despite the employer’s demand for a five-year agreement. The members of the Bargaining Committee also negotiated the following:

  • progression in the wage scale;

  • five days of paid sick leave with no waiting period;

  • an annual examination performed on a work day without loss of salary;

  • one day of paid union leave per month for the local union representative;

  • increase of the premium for cell phones;

  • paid leave for weddings, moving, birth, bereavement;

  • recognition of the principle of seniority;

  • job posting;

  • establishment of a selection procedure;

  • lay-off and recall procedures;

  • introduction of a procedure for the implementation of schedules for hours of work and overtime;

  • maintenance of the existing group insurance plan.

This first collective agreement protects the rights of members and establishes clear rules moving forward.

Unifor represents 27 pilots at Pascan. This airline is based in Saint-Hubert and operates flights to several regions of Quebec, including Saguenay, Côte-Nord, Abitibi, etc.
