January 27, 2017 at 10:45 AM

On January 26th, representatives from Unifor, Teamsters and Swissport convened in Montreal before Arbitrator Claude Martin concerning the Blue Pass flight benefits for former Handlex employees, now employed at Swissport.

Most of the day was spent hearing from Swissport’s [hired] accountants who explained the monetary value of the settlement, specifically what the members should be entitled to.

Unifor lawyer Catherine Saint-Germain and Teamsters lawyer Patrice St-Onge had the opportunity to ask questions in order to clarify Swissport’s position on the Blue Pass flight benefits settlement.

After several hours of analyzing the monetary values and bringing forth concerns and questions directed at Swissport representatives, Arbitrator Claude Martin adjourned the meeting. Mr. Martin has proposed to have a conference call with all parties in the coming days in order to schedule further meeting dates in order to finish the testimonies.

All parties have agreed to be available days, nights and weekends in order expedite this process.

Unifor is committed to pursuing this issue for as long as it takes to achieve our bargained rights. We will continue to keep you informed as this process continues.
