On July 27th, the Blue Pass arbitration continued hearings in Montreal before Arbitrator Claude Martin pertaining to the flight benefits for former Handlex employees.
Unifor lawyer Catherine Saint-Germain and Teamster lawyer Patrice St-Onge presented their final remarks on how best to settle this grievance and then proceeded with their closing arguments before the arbitrator. Both Unions reiterated the importance of the arguments presented over the many sessions of these proceedings.
The members are looking for closure on the Blue Pass issue after more than 5 years. The Arbitrator is now in receipt of all relevant information to make a ruling and render an award.
Unifor has no control as to when Arbitrator Claude Martin will issue his award, which potentially may come after several months. We will further advise the membership as soon as we are in receipt of the award.
