Blue Pass update for former Handlex members of Swissport
Blue Pass update for former Handlex members of Swissport
August 16, 2016 at 12:28 PM
On June 23, 2016, Arbitrator Claude Martin asked all parties involved in the Blue Pass grievance (Unifor, Teamsters, and company officials) to indicate their availabilities over the next few months in order to schedule a date to continue hearings.
It is over three years since the grievance pertaining to the Blue Pass flight benefits was filed (by Unifor) and our members want this issue resolved.
Local 2002 has been clear that we are available to proceed with the hearings immediately. Unfortunately, the first date that all of the other parties are available is January 26, 2017. Unifor has advised the office of the arbitrator to inform us if any earlier date becomes available.
We would like to thank everyone involved for their continued patience throughout this long and drawn out process. In particular workplace representatives who have done a tremendous job of relaying information to our members.
Unifor is committed to pursuing the issue for as long as it takes to achieve our bargained rights. We will continue to keep you informed.
In solidarity,
Josée Genois
Assistant to Local 2002 President
