Local 2002: Executive Board announces new Executive Assistants

After a lengthy interview process the Executive Board of Local 2002 wishes to announce the appointment of the following CAW members to the position of Executive Assistants – East. The primary responsibilities of Executive Assistants are to assist District Officers with the administration of collective agreements and Bargaining Committee’s during negotiations.

  

Theresa Amicarelli

Fluent in English, French, Spanish and Italian Theresa will be active with her assignments in Quebec and Ontario. Theresa has a long history of activism and prior to her appointment was District Chairperson at Toronto’s Pearson Airport in the Air Canada unit. This is the largest district in our Local Union with almost 1500 members. Theresa has broad experience in the administration of collective agreements and will work with CAW National Representatives and elected bargaining committees during contract negotiations.

  

Ashley Watkins

Ashley has vast amounts of experience in collective bargaining and contract administration. He is a former District Chairperson and Bargaining Committee Representative. In his previous assignment as Grievance Coordinator he was a resource to District officers as they settled contract disputes. He implemented and coordinated the expedited arbitration process at Air Canada and Jazz. Ashley has advanced skills in training CAW officers and utilizing alternative dispute resolution methods to achieve results for our members.

  

Both Theresa and Ashley will be based in the Local 2002 Toronto Office. “Local 2002 is a large and diverse organization. As members and District Officers begin to experience the extra support from Ashley and Theresa, I am confident they will see a real difference in their Union’s operations,” said Leslie Dias.
