Members at Worldwide Flight Services in Vancouver ratified a new collective agreement on January 12th with overwhelming support. This agreement made significant changes towards improving contract language and monetary gains. The term of the agreement is for three years, expiring on December 31st, 2009. Improvements to the agreement include the following:

  • Wage increases - 2% - 3% - 3%.
  • Improved Shift Trade language – including partial trades.
  • Added an additional 15 minute rest break for any shift exceeding 10 hours.
  • Improved Leave of Absence Language to now allow a range of one day to one year duration.
  • Increased Bereavement Leave.
  • Language about the requirement of supplying Doctor’s notes
  • Improved language protecting member rights for Vacation and Shift bidding.
  • Created a new rule that suspension discipline will not be served until the grievance process has been exhausted.
  • Increased rest between shifts from 8 to 10 hours.
  • Increased Part-Time minimum hours from 3 hour shifts to 4 hours per day and from 15 to 20 hours a week.
  • Annual contribution to the CAW's Social Justice Fund.
  • Agreement on a joint Harassment investigation process.
