ASP: Collective agreement term and pension inquires

A number of ASP members have approached the CAW on two very important issues that continue to arise. The following aims to provide clarification of these two inquires.

The first question many members are enquiring about involves the term of the current collective agreement. The CAW has served formal written notice to the company in order commence bargaining of a new collective agreement. The CAW is currently soliciting the employer for dates to begin bargaining.

The other question that continues to surface is the matter pertaining to the Teamsters Pension Plan. The CAW has made a request to the government pension regulator – the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO) – to begin the transfer of any assents that are remaining in the former Teamsters Pension Plan. Additionally, the CAW has also requested to inspect any filed documents with the regulator.
