CAW and A.S.P. prepare for bargaining

CAW and A.S.P. prepare for bargaining

March 25, 2011 at 3:30 PM

Congratulations to the newly elected ASP Bargaining Committee members:

  • Gopal Baghel, Chairperson

  • Patrick Williams – BBTCA

  • Savithri Alahari – Pearson

  • Jesse J. Prempeh – Pearson

The bargaining committee members that were democratically elected by the ASP membership along with Ashley Watkins - Local 2002 Executive Assistant and Joel Fournier - CAW Staff Representative who will help facilitate the process, will form your new CAW Local 2002 A.S.P. Bargaining Committee.

As we explained at the March 8th membership meetings, the CAW has filed legal notice to bargain with ASP management. We expect to begin with a series of meetings in mid to late April. As soon as dates are confirmed we will notify the membership.

Many of you have already begun to identify a number of working conditions that you would like to see changed or enhanced such as:

  • Application of Seniority

  • Job postings

  • Meal and Relief Breaks

  • Schedules

  • Full time hours

  • Part time hours

  • On Call

  • Pension

  • Wages

The CAW’s commitment to democracy and transparency during this process dictates that we seek even more input and information as we prepare to meet with the employer. This will be achieved by a two-step process, beginning with a survey and followed by proposal meetings.

It is important that the entire ASP CAW Local 2002 membership have an opportunity to be involved.

Surveys will be sent via email or you can contact your union representative for a copy. Arrangements are underway to prepare for proposal meetings. We will advise you shortly as to when and where these meetings will be held. Please contact your ASP Local bargaining committee for more information.

Your support and participation in the CAW democratic bargaining process is crucial to our success.

We are counting on you!
