Unifor and ASP prepare for final arbitration

Unifor and ASP prepare for final arbitration

May 2, 2017 at 6:00 PM

After months of bargaining, two rejected tentative agreements and unresolved conciliation mediation, little progress has been made in negotiations between Unifor and ASP. As a final step, both parties have agreed to binding arbitration as outlined in the provisions of Section 79 of the Canada Labour Code.

On Friday, May 5, 2017, Arbitrator Tom Hodges will receive written and oral submissions from both Unifor and ASP on outstanding issues. Once all arguments have been made, Mr. Hodges will review all the information and make a final and binding decision.

The arbitration process takes time, but your Unifor Local 2002 Bargaining Committee is committed to getting the membership the collective agreement they deserve. “The membership at ASP have been through a lot of change,” said Unifor 2002 President Cheryl Robinson. “Our goal is to get a fair and equitable contract that reflects the successes of the company and the hard work of our members.”

Your bargaining committee will continue to provide you with updates on the next steps.

In solidarity,

Your ASP District 356 Bargaining Committee:
