Air Canada CSSA Pass Priority Details

Air Canada CSSA Pass Priority Details

March 21, 2016 at 5:00 PM

Thank you for your patience. After what seems like an eternity, Unifor and Air Canada, working together, have built a strong foundation for the future. On March 15, 2016, it was announced via joint conference call with Unifor leadership and Air Canada that our collective goal of parity with the IAMAW and CUPE’s C1 passes and no service charges was achieved. Unifor is committed to ensuring that our members are treated with respect. We know that Air Canada’s intention is to become a globally competitive carrier, and as frontline and first contact workers we are big players in making this happen.

“We have been working very hard to develop a relationship with Air Canada that benefits our membership and we are pleased that the discussions we’ve had brought us to a place where we found a solution,” Unifor Local 2002 President Cheryl Robinson.

The C1 and no service fee data will be loaded very shortly into our travel profiles. In addition, those members who work Christmas Day and/or New Year’s Day will receive an additional C1 pass (two if you work both days).

Unifor and AC will co-operate to successfully implement Air Canada’s business plan to achieve its goal of being a globally competitive carrier in various ways.

  • Leads. Air Canada will post 30 new lead positions across the system in the next 18 months. The program will be enhanced by the company’s investment in recurrent and new training in a variety of customer and agent focussed skills, including dealing with the difficult passenger and strategies in helping agents navigate the changes in the workplace, such as interpreting Timatic. The revitalized Lead program is one of the essential building blocks in reaching Air Canada’s goal of becoming a globally competitive carrier.

  • Uniforms. Union pride is alive and well. All agents will receive a union pin which they will display on their uniform. The Air Canada lanyard will replace all other lanyards. In order to maintain consistency, all agents will be required to wear a name brevet displaying first name only. Agents can still elect to use a pseudonym on their brevet.

An important tool in discussing the new uniform is our feedback page. Your thoughts and observations are needed: Air Canada new uniform feedback.

  • Premium agents. The function was introduced in the winter bid at Toronto Pearson Airport. Summer bid introductions will commence in YVR, YYC and YUL. At those locations it will be a one-year bid commencing with the fall bid of 2016. There has been no timeline set for the introduction into bases.
A positive working relationship between Unifor and Air Canada will create a better experience for all. The achievement of the C1’s and our joint commitment to work together forms the framework for more positive change.
