Unifor signs reciprocal agreement for AME Members at Canadian North

November 5, 2019 at 4:00 PM

After many weeks of dialogue, Unifor has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for its Aircraft Maintenance Engineers at Canadian North. This specific Agreement summaries the reciprocal utilization in Iqaluit and Yellowknife for the recently merged First Air and Canadian North, now to be known as Canadian North Inc.

Details of the MOA ensures that Unifor members in both Iqaluit and Yellowknife will remain and work at their current base, unless they apply for and are awarded a position at another base. The Agreement also states that members will remain in their current positions and shall continue to be eligible for their current pay, premiums and allowances. The complete text of the 2019 Memorandum of Agreement is available here.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AME's) are highly skilled individuals who ensure aircraft safety standards for the fleet who employed at various bases including Edmonton, Calgary, Yellowknife, and Iqaluit.

We thank you for your continued support throughout this process.
