Last month your Bargaining Committee communicated that due to reaching an impasse with the Employer, Unifor had no other option but to file a Notice of Dispute and begin the process of conciliation.
This regrettable action could have been avoided if the Employer understood the needs and desires of the membership, and entered into the negotiations process with the intent of reaching a fair and equitable contract. Instead, the Union was met with the threat of mediation.
Now that a Notice of Dispute has been filed with the Federal Minister of Labour, the conciliation process will begin. However, due to scheduling conflicts, it appears that we will have to wait until May 2023 to meet with the parties. The upcoming conciliation dates are currently scheduled as follows:

May 29 – June 2
Unifor strives to protect the economic rights and working conditions of members. Every person of working age in Canada has a right to a good job and the benefits of economic progress. This is part of the Union’s mandate, and we will continue to demand improvements to working conditions and compensation for GardaWorld members.
