Negotiations are progressing for approximately 150 members at the Hilton in Saint John whose contract expired in December 2013.
In October, comprehensive surveys were developed by the bargaining committee and distributed to the membership. A proposal meeting was held on October 9, 2013 in order to determine the issues most important to the membership.
Drawing on this important feedback, your bargaining committee met to scrutinize the current language in the collective agreement and compile the bargaining mandate that would be presented to the company.
On January 17, 2014, Unifor representatives Kevin Roker, Kim Beyea, Peggy MacCougan-Macdonald, Ashley Watkins, Cheryl Robinson and Mike MacMullin met with the company to officially open bargaining.
Although the union handed the company their non-monetary proposals, representatives for the company advised that they would submit their proposals at a later date.
Negotiations will resume on February 12-13, 2014.
