Update as of July 09, 2020, Local 2002 Office Closure due to COVID 19 Precautions

July 9, 2020 at 11:29 AM
To reduce the spread of COVID-19 virus, and as required by the Government of Ontario, effective Wednesday, March 25, 2020, the Local 2002 office will be closed. The closure will remain in effect until  July 31, 2020, at which time, we will reassess the situation and determine if it is necessary to extend the closure.

The recent weeks have seen our members, our Local and the world confronting decisions and scenarios we never imagined we would have to face.  We, like all of our members, do not know what the future holds; only that we will get through this together.

Members should not visit the Local 2002 office during this closure. The health and safety of the membership, our staff and our community are one of our utmost priorities.

The office closure will not impact members’ ability to access the core services of their union. During this period of remote work, your Local 2002 President, Secretary-Treasurer, Assistants to the Presidents, and Local 2002 Staff will continue to work to service our members remotely.  Should you have any questions or concerns please reach out by phone or email to your Workplace Representatives or the Local 2002 office.

The Local 2002 phone lines, voice messages, and emails are being monitored daily by our staff. We will continue to update our membership through our website, E-news, and Social Media platforms.

I would like to thank the members and staff for their understanding and patience during these trying times and encourage everyone to heed the warnings from the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC).  Please practice safe distancing and follow both medical experts and government guidelines at this time.

Members can visit the Local 2002 website where current information will continue to be posted – www.unifor2002.org

Be kind to each other and assist those around you that may be vulnerable. Be safe. Stay healthy.

In solidarity,

Euila Leonard
President-Unifor Local 2002
