Perimeter Aviation members ratify new two-year collective agreement

On October 15th, Unifor conducted two Zoom meetings with the Perimeter Aviation membership to review of the Employer’s final contract offer. This comes just days after workers overwhelmingly rejected the Employer’s prior offer citing issues with wages, turnaround time between shifts, scheduling and other ongoing contractual concerns.

At the conclusion of these meetings, a confidential vote was conducted asking workers if they were in favour of the bargaining committee’s recommendation to accept the tentative agreement.

In response, 63% of the membership voted YES, resulting in a new ratified collective agreement which will come into effect immediately. The term of the new agreement will be in place until June 23, 2023.

“Congratulations to all Perimeter members for ratifying this long-awaited collective agreement,” said Tammy Moore, Unifor Local 2002 President. “Your resolve and fortitude has produced a contract that will provide immediate gains, as well as future improvements in years to come.”

Some of the new language includes improvements to overall work-life balance through a reduction in hours worked yearly, additional hours for mandatory rest periods, and improved wages totaling 6% over the term of the agreement.

Per the tentative agreement, anyone employed as of date of ratification (October 15, 2021) is eligible for the signing bonus. Note that for those currently off on a leave (e.g. maternity leave, short-term disability, etc.), the ratification bonus will be paid upon return to the workplace.

Unifor has confirmed that schedules will remain the same for the month of October, and that a new shift bid will occur as soon as possible for November and follow the new agreed-to-language.
