Perimeter Flight Attendants vote in favour of strike action

Perimeter Flight Attendants vote in favour of strike action

September 2, 2021 at 11:00 AM

On September 1, 2021, Perimeter Aviation members voiced their unwavering solidarity with their Union by voting “YES” to strike action, if necessary.

With over 95% of members participating in the vote, Perimeter Aviation Flight Attendants returned a 100% positive strike action mandate which will be actioned if a just and equitable contract settlement cannot be reached with the Employer.

"Our Perimeter members are ambassadors of safety and customer service," said Tammy Moore, Unifor Local 2002 President. "They provide direction and assistance to passengers with pride and efficiency, and their steadfast message of unity is clear; they deserve fairness and respect at the bargaining table and will not accept any less from their Union or their Employer."

This vote does not mean that there will be immediate strike action. The strike vote delivers the Unifor Bargaining Committee their full support at the negotiating table and members will partake in job action should negotiations with the Employer fail over the coming weeks.

The main issues affecting members are wages, the start and end time of their duty day, spare coverage language, and the maximum number of days worked per month.

Strike action can be avoided and Unifor's door remains open if the Employer is prepared to make a renewed offer. Perimeter Aviation claims to be a leader in providing safe and innovative aviation services. It's time they invest in the growth of their employees and the communities they serve.

The Bargaining Committee would like to extend their sincere appreciation and thanks to the members who participated in the strike vote.
