The Wage Earner Protection Program (WEPP) was developed by the federal government to protect workers when employers become bankrupt or are subject to receivership. Under the WEPP, employees may be entitled to payment for unpaid wages, vacation pay, termination pay and severance pay that the employee earned or became entitled to in the last six months before bankruptcy or receivership.

The entitlement for Unifor members employed by Air Georgian includes vacation, termination, and severance entitlements. Please note that wages were paid in full before the bankruptcy, therefore there is an only entitlement for vacation, termination, and severance pay included in line with the rules applicable to federally regulated employees. The maximum payable by the WEPP program is $6798.56 regardless of amounts owed more than this.
