Air Georgian Members: Update on the Air Canada/Jazz CPA Agreement

Air Georgian Members: Update on the Air Canada/Jazz CPA Agreement

February 4, 2019 at 3:40 PM
As you may be aware, on January 14, 2019, Air Canada announced that it had reached an amended and extended CPA agreement with Jazz. With this announcement, the Air Georgian employees assumed that they would be negatively impacted, however, Air Canada and Air Georgian have agreed in principle that the Unifor Local 2002 members employed by Air Georgian in Toronto and Calgary would be transferred into the Air Canada or Jazz workforce.

On February 4, 2019, Air Georgian management announced to the Calgary base employees that Air Canada would cease operations of the Beechcraft 1900 on April 30, 2019. The members in Calgary were also advised that their base would close shortly thereafter.

It is important that members of Unifor Local 2002 continue to perform their duties as required, and allow this process to unfold. Unifor Local 2002 remains committed in ensuring that our member’s jobs will not be in jeopardy.

The Union will be meeting with the Company on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, to discuss in further detail on how this process will unfold over the next 10 months. We will ensure to keep you abreast of any further developments as it becomes available.

In solidarity,
Theresa Amicarelli
Assistant to the Local 2002 President
